  • Perot Museum of Nature & Science

Morphosis-Perot Museum Thom Mayne, the 2005 Pritzker Prize winner and principal in the L.A. architecture firm, Morphosis, has just revealed his plans for the 180,000 sq ft Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Victory Park. According to the museum’s publicist, the building mass is conceived as a large cube floating over the site’s landscaped plinth. The building will rise about 170 feet over the 4.7 acre site. One of the signature features of the Museum is a 54-foot continuous-flow escalator contained in a 150-foot tube-like structure that dramatically extends outside the building.

Groundbreaking on the approximately $185-million project will be held later this fall, and the Museum is expected to open by early 2013.
